Hypnotherapy for coping confidently with anxiety, fears, phobias and panic attacks

Hypnotherapy is very effective for fear-based issues, as it helps you to regain control of your thoughts and feelings, and start to feel calm and stable again. It can help you to manage and resolve the physical effects and negative thoughts and feelings that fear creates, replacing them with feelings of calm and being able to cope confidently.

We'll start by looking at ways for you to immediately get some understanding and control of your fear and its effects. In general, most people start to experience positive changes (physical, mental and emotional) from the first session, with solid improvements in levels of anxiety and control of symptoms with between 2 and 5 sessions.

One of the first things we work on is understanding how fear operates: most importantly, that adrenalin is triggered in response to a thought about a potential threat. And the increased adrenalin levels involved in this fight/flight response are the cause of the physical responses that are so terrifying (eg hear palpitations, sweating, nausea, dizziness, dry mouth etc). Knowing how fear works is the start of getting back in control.

Then, we'll look into specifics of your particular issue, concentrating on a number of different areas that all help to increase your ability to handle yourself in situations you find uncomfortable. For example, we would use hypnotherapy to easily and safely work with the original event/situation that caused the fear (if there is one). We'll also figure out ways for you to disrupt the fear cycle at any point by being more aware of your thoughts and physical responses, so that you can take control when you notice fear affecting you.

Hypnotherapy is also very effective for helping you to rehearse how you'd like to respond to situations/experiences you are afraid of. This is also good for reducing the anxiety people sometimes feel even just thinking about being in the feared situation. Instead of anticipating "the worst", you'll have new, positive ways to deal with the fear better. We'll also find ways to boost your self-confidence, courage and determination, so you can begin to cope with what you fear in ways that make you proud of yourself.
