Hypnosis for confident childbirth

Hypnosis is an excellent addition to your tool-kit for making your birth the best it can be for you and your baby. Its effectiveness is based on the control of sensation that you can achieve through a deep level of self-hypnosis, creating a reliable way for you to manage your responses and experience, both during and after birth.

Generally, the hypnosis for confident childbirth package consists of 4 sessions, which normally take place over the period from month 7 to 2 weeks before the due date. However, where necessary, we will work together to achieve what we can, if you are working to shorter time-scales! The package costs £420 (payable as a lump sum), which includes 4 sessions and 3 recordings for practice between sessions.

  • Session 1 (month 7, 28-30 weeks): learn to use self-hypnosis to relax and maintain a state of calm confidence
  • Session 2 (month 8, 32-34 weeks): address any concerns relating to birth and motherhood; learn instant deep self-hypnosis for whole body relaxation
  • Session 3 (middle-end month 8, 36+ weeks): review and deepen self-hypnosis skills, including instant deep hypnosis; work to deepen feelings of confidence, calm and competence
  • Session 4: work with your birthing partner, so they know how they can reinforce and and support the new skills you have; create directions for the midwife and hospital staff regarding the use of language (eg avoid using the word "pain"); reinforce self-reliance and confidence to do what you can to have best possible birth for you and your baby
